Destin Bay Fishing Report (09-11-20)
Fishing in Destin has been on fire this summer. We have had a consistent redfish bite with a mixed bag of speckled trout, spanish mackerel, and mangrove snapper mixed in throughout the summer as well. The primary method of fishing has been using live bait (greenies) but we have also done well with various soft plastics. The areas that we have been fishing around has been bridges as well as the grass flats all around the bay. The way we are rigging is with either a carolina or knocker rig for gettting the baits down on the bottom and also using Send it Popping Corks (senditcorks.com) when fishing thick grass and keeping the baits up high.
The Forecast
The forecast looks great as we wrap up the summer and head into the fall months. There is bait of all kinds all over the bay both in shallow water and deep water, and there are good numbers of fish all over feeding on them. As long as we can keep the hurricanes away, we should be able to finish out the year strong!
Tight lines,
Captain Blake
